Good day class. welcome to the last online class. Hope you are getting ready for resumption. Today we will be writing note on how zachaeus responded to the call to repentance.
zachaeus responded to the call to repentance ( Luke 19:1-10 )
Zachaeus,a short man, was a chief tax collector in the town of Jericho. He used to cheat the people by collecting more than the required and he used excess tax for himself.
One day, Jesus was passing through Jericho to Jerusalem,so Zachaeus came to see but because of his stature,he climbed the sycamore tree to see Jesus pass by.
Jesus asked him to come down and spent the night in his house. Zachaeus was happy but the people were not happy and said that Jesus had gone to be the guest of a bad man.
Jesus heard this with Zachaeus and he felt bad for cheating the people. He promised to return all the surplus tax he had taken. With this, Jesus was happy for his repentance and said “today, salvation has come to this house”.
The message of John the Baptist ( Matthew 3:1_12, Luke 3:1-14)
The message of John the Baptist is based on repentance. He baptised his converts in river Jordan.
John was born to Zachariah and Elizabeth and he was the forerunner of Jesus. He preached that people should repent for the kingdom is at hand.He fed on locust and wild honey. John referred to the religious leaders of his
days as brood of vipers. John baptised people water but Jesus baptise with the holy spirit.
Consequences of lack of repentance
Example of Eli ( 1 Samuel 3:18,4:10-21)
Hophni and Phinehas were the sons of God at Shiloh. His sons were assistant priests and they did many bad things.
They did not give God respect by taking the best portion of the sacrifice. They also slept with women who served in the house of God.Eli warned his children but they did not change.
God then decided to punish them.God told Samuel of the punishment for the sons of Eli. The Israelites went in battle with the Philistines and they lost the battle. The Philistines captured the ark of covenant and Eli’s sons were killed because of their lack of repentance.
Consequences of some of our wrong doing
When we do what is wrong and refuse to repent and ask for forgiveness we suffer the consequences.
Some youths who engage in vices which are sinful include cultists, those who engage in fornication, examination malpractices, drunkenness, drug addiction,e.t.c. Consequences of lack of repentance of these youths include untimely death, lack of success, being afflicted with incurable disease.

Good day class.Today, we will write on how the people of Nineveh repented of their sins.(Jonah 1-4 )
God was not happy with the people of Nineveh because of their sins. The lord sent Jonah the son of Amittai to go to Nineveh and proclaim that in forty days, Nineveh shall be overthrown. Jonah fled to Joppa to board a ship to Tarshish. There arose a great wind that troubled the ship. The mariners were afraid and threw their luggages in the sea to lighten the ship but Jonah was asleep when the storm was ragging.
They woke him up and when lot was cast it fell on Jonah. He told them he was the cause of the storm and said he should be thrown into the sea. God appointed a big fish to swallow him and he was in the belly of the fish for three days and three nights. He prayed while he was in the belly of the fish. Then the fish vommited him at the shore of Nineveh.
He walked through the city and proclaimed that yet in forty days Nineveh shall be overthrown. The people of Nineveh believed God and put on sackcloth. The king sat in ashes and proclaimed a fast for the whole city and that they should repent from their evil ways. When God saw their action , God relented of the destruction to come. God forgave them because they repented.

Good day class.happy new month.. Welcome to class . Today , we will talk on profession and repetance.kindly copy
Profession
A profession is a vocation, occupation or career. It is the work we have been trained to do as professionals for which we earn a living. We have professions like teaching, medical, etc.
In the Bible, we have professionals like Paul who was a lawyer, Matthew a tax collector etc.
To qualify as a professional, you need training in form of education and life experience.
Repentance
Repentance is that act of feeling sorry for wrong doing and sincere promise of good behavior in the future. It is the realization that what we have done is bad and we are ready to apologize and ask for forgiveness.
David repented of his sins(2 Sam. 12:7-13)
David committed adultery with Bathsheba the wife of Uriah, the Hittite when the Israelites went to fight against Ammonites. David did not go and saw a woman having her bath while he was walking on the top of his roof.
He slept with her and she became pregnant. In order to hide his sin, he called Uriah to go home and sleep with his wife but he refused and in the end, he sent a letter to Joab to put him in the hottest part of the war and he was killed .
David married Bathsheba and God sent prophet Nathan to call him to repentance.
Nathan told him the story of a poor man and a rich man who had plenty of sheep and goats. One day, the rich man had a visitor and he took the lamb of the poor man and killed it for his visitor.
When David heard the story, he was angry and said the rich
Man should be put to death. Nathan declared the punishment of David including the death of his child.
David confessed his sins and repented as recorded in psalm 51.

“where ever you go, I will go, where ever you lodge, I will lodge, your people will be my people and your God shall be my God”
Ruth decided to render selfless service to Naomi’s Yahweh, the God of Israel. She worked in Boaz’s field who was the kinsman of Elimelech.
Boaz later married Ruth and had Obed, the lineage through which Jesus came. Ruth rendered emotional companionship and material services to her mother in law.
Problems of Service
God gives every individual natural talent to serve Him and humanity. Some of these things can hinder us in delivering good services.

One day, Joseph was sent to go and see the welfare of his brothers at Shechem where they had gone to feed the flock but he found them at Dothan.
When his brothers saw him, they planned to kill him and throw his body into the pit to tell their father that a wild beast had killed him. Reuben suggested that he should be thrown into a pit to rescue him and take him back to their father.
They later sold him to traders for twenty shekels of silver and showed his clothes dipped in blood that he had been killed by a wild beast.

Deborah and Barak led their people to freedom (Judges 4)
God sold the Israelites to the king of Canaan, Jabin who attacked them because they did what was evil after the death of Ehud.
They suffered for twenty years under the rule of Jabin. They cried unto God and God had pity on them. God used Deborah, the prophetess, the wife of Lapidoth to deliver Israel. Deborah was also the judge. Deborah sent for Barak to lead the army of Israel with ten thousand men from the tribe of Naphtali and Zebulon.
Barak agreed to fight if only Deborah would accompany him to the battle. She agreed, but said the glory of the war would go to a woman. Deborah went with Barak and defeated the Canaanites ‘ army commander took refuge in the house of Jael, the wife of Heber the Kenite. Sisera asked for water but jael gave him milk and he told her not to tell anybody that he was in the house.
When he slept off, Jael took a tent peg leg and drove it in through his temple and killed him. So, the glory of the battle went to a woman as Deborah prophesied. Deborah is being referred to as mother in Israel because of the role she played.
People like Chief Obafemi Awolowo, Dr Dr Nnamdi Azikwe, Ahmadu Bello ,e. t. c fought for Nigeria’s independence and achieved political freedom for Nigerians and these people became nationalists.

At ninety-nine, God told him to walk before him and be perfect and he would give him a son. God made a covenant with him. The sign of the covenant (agreement )was to circumcise every male in his household.
God changed his name from Abram to Abraham and Sarai to Sarah, father and mother of the multitude.
When Abraham was hundred and Sarah was ninety, they had a son and called him Isaac which means laughter. The child was circumcised on the eighth day he was born. As Isaac grew up, Abraham made a feast on the day he was weaned.
The Sacrifice of Isaac
Abraham was tested by God when he asked him to offer his son Isaac on a mountain as a burnt offering.
Abraham rose early in the morning saddled his donkey, took two of his servants, Isaac, pieces of wood and left for mountain Moriah.
On the third day, Abraham saw the mountain afar off and told his servants to stay behind with the donkeys. Abraham went with Isaac to prepare the sacrifice. As they approached the mountain asked his father for the lamb for the offering and Abraham said that the Lord will provide. Abraham built an altar, set the wood, tied Isaac and laid him on the altar. As he raised his knife to kill his son, an angel of the Lord stopped him. As he lifted up his eyes, he saw a ram. He took the ram and used it instead of his son.
