1)The force of attraction in solid is very strong while that of liquid is not as strong as in solid and for the gas,it is weak.
2a)Sublimation
It is the process by which solid changes to gas directly without passing through the liquid medium.
2b)Freezing
It occurs when liquid change to solid.
2c)Melting
It occurs when solid change to liquid
2d)Condensation
It occurs when gas change to liquid.
Thermal energy
It is known as heat transfer or heat flow or heat exchange.
It is the process by which heat is moved from one object to another,it occurs at different temperature from the sorrouding, from the region of high temperature to a lower temperature.
Types
-Conduction
-Convection
-Radiation
Conduction
It is the transfer of energy between objects in physical contact, it is the most significant means of heat transfer within a solid. The more the difference in temperature, the faster the conduction.
Application
Cooking in metal pans.since heat is a good conductor of heat, it absorbs heat from the flame or heat source and readily transfer to the food.
Convection
It is the transfer of energy between objects and it’s environment due to fluid motion.it occurs on a large scale in the atmosphere and oceans.
Application
1)Ventilation of rooms
2)Chimneys in factories
3)Central heating of buildings
4)Installation of air conditioners
5)Land breeze, sea breeze and ocean current.
Question

Boiling
The conversion of a liquid to gas or vapour
The atoms in the vaporous state escape from the liquid medium.
The amount of heat supplied is so high that the atoms move very rapidly in all direction.
The movement increase so much that at a particular temperature ,the mass of an atoms begins to move physically.
Evaporation
It is also the conversion of a liquid to a gas.
It occurs when heat is applied
The kinetic energy of the atoms increases.
Increase in the kinetic energy result to molecules gaining more kinetic energy to overcome the surface attraction and move apart
It occurs at all temperatures.
Factors affecting evaporation
1)The density of the liquid
2)The rate of evaporation increases with an increase in temperature
3)It causes cooling
4)Presence of wind ,flow of air increases the rate of evaporation
5)The more the humidity in gaseous medium, the slower the rate of evaporation.
