What is voting? It is the process of electing a representative of the people into the government of a state or a nation.
Before the actual election, there is usually a need for the electoral commission to register all eligible voters about six months before the election. This is to prevent multiple voting as well as to remove electoral fraud on the day of election.
IMPORTANCE OF VOTING
- To effect a peaceful change of government from one regim to the other.
- It enables the electorate to vote for the candidate of their choice in a free and fair election.
- It gives opportunity to everybody to everybody to enjoy their franchise.
- It can be used to remove a bad government and install a good one.
- It has the capacity to make people express their minds on the government’s program.
- It can be used to educate the electorate.
- The masses are able to exercise their political sovereignty.
